What is the Difference between
SAP WM and SAP EWM ?
SAP enriched its SCM (supply chain management) portfolio for
warehouse management solution, called Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). EWM
offers increased flexibility and capabilities of existing ERP WM solution, part
of SAP’s ECC (Enterprise Central Component) solution. SAP does not see EWM as a
replacement of the ERP WM solution, with powerful alternative.
EWM efficiently handles all internal process of a warehouse
efficiently - goods receipt and goods issue, complex cross-docking, slotting,
packing and shipping logistics, as well as cross-function activities such as
LSP (Logistics Service Provider) integration, labor management and analytics.
The question of how easy it will be for a WM guy to pick up
EWM, one who is familiar with the warehousing terminology already, EWM handles
a lot of complex functions and is suggested to use across Distribution and
Services Related industries.
